Mandatory Safety Expectations 

  • Adherence to safe practices and procedures for self and aligned teams

  • Contribution toward developing procedures, systems, and practices ensuring safe operations and compliance with integrity and quality standards

  • Driving a strong EHSS culture and promoting safety and sustainability at all times

  • Ensuring safety of self, teams, and laboratory/plant areas by following all EHSS protocols

  • Accountability for achieving safety goals and regularly reviewing safety metrics


Core Purpose of the Role

  • Issue permits to work for non-routine activities as per procedure

  • Participate in GEMBA line walks with cross-functional teams

  • Prepare and circulate daily EHSS reports

  • Conduct risk assessments such as JSA, HIRA, EAIA as required and support implementation of management programs

  • Conduct mock drills and fire alarm testing; document observations

  • Monitor and inspect safety-critical equipment (gas detectors, spill kits, fire extinguishers, hydrants, safety cupboards, etc.)

  • Support ISO documentation and management programs

  • Initiate material code creation, purchase requisitions, and invoice approvals in SAP; maintain stock of EHSS-critical equipment

  • Conduct safety orientation and deliver training as per the annual calendar

  • Analyze SynZero observations and share insights with the team

  • Perform daily site rounds; escalate abnormalities to the EHSS Lead and concerned departments

  • Monitor Occupational Health Centre (OHC) operations, medicine inventory, equipment calibration, ambulance readiness, and monthly OHC performance

  • Coordinate with HR & Admin for Annual Health Checkups (AHC) for employees and contract workers

  • Ensure alignment with organizational EHSS KPIs

  • Monitor generation, storage, and disposal of hazardous, non-hazardous, and biomedical waste; maintain records

  • Drive the Industrial Hygiene program across the site

  • Evaluate SOPs for gap assessments and ensure checklist compliance

  • Support internal, external, and customer EHSS audits

  • Organize campaigns, competitions, and activities to promote safety awareness


Role Accountabilities

  • Monitor and support all daily EHSS activities and documentation

  • Maintain ISO documentation for the site

  • Ensure timely disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste

  • Conduct training for new joiners and Emergency Response Team (ERT) members

  • Oversee OHC operations and annual medical examinations

  • Act as single point of contact for pest-control management

  • Support incident investigations, environmental aspects, and operational KPIs

  • Assist the EHSS Lead during audits

Specific Requirements for the Role

Experience

  • 6–10 years of experience in laboratory and bulk pharma industry

  • Strong knowledge of Environment, Health, Safety, and Legal Compliance

  • Experience with ISO documentation and site safety operations

  • Ability to manage multiple operational areas

  • Problem-solving mindset with scientific thinking

  • Excellent communication skills

Education

  • B.Sc./M.Sc in Organic Chemistry / Biology

  • B.Tech in Environmental Engineering / Chemical Engineering
