Lead IT Business Partner – R&D Informatics (FRAM Program)

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka
Department: Digital IT / R&D Informatics
Reports To: Head – Digital IT

Role Summary

Lead the end-to-end IT business partner function for R&D and enterprise scientific systems (ELN, CRS, Compound Inventory, integrations). Identify and implement automation opportunities using modern and AI-driven technologies. Champion robust IT governance, delivery excellence, security, and compliance (internal/external audits) while enabling business agility through data products, dashboards, and platform integrations.

Key Responsibilities

1) Business Process Innovation & Automation

  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate scientific and enterprise processes using latest technologies (AI, workflow engines, low-code, RPA).
  • Conduct value stream mapping and deliver measurable efficiency gains (cycle time reduction, right-first-time, manual effort elimination).
  • Establish an Automation CoE playbook—use cases, ROI frameworks, reusable components.

2) Technology Strategy & Delivery

  • Lead, develop, and implement new technology initiatives that strengthen competitive advantage and profitability.
  • Drive product roadmaps for ELN (Chemistry/Biology), CRS, compound inventory, and their integrations (e.g., MOSAIC, Scigilian LIMS, instruments).
  • Govern project lifecycle—charter, backlog, MVPs, releases, hypercare—with strong vendor and QA coordination.

3) IT Program & Vendor Management

  • Lead multiple projects in collaboration with business users, QA, and vendors; ensure scope clarity, timelines, budgets, SLAs, and risk management.
  • Run weekly governance—RAIDs, burnups, milestone tracking—and ensure transparent communication to stakeholders.

4) Continuous Improvement of IT Systems

  • Oversee and drive continuous improvement across IT delivery—SLA adherence, change success rate, release quality, and support readiness.
  • Maintain and enhance enterprise applications (ELN, CRS, compound inventory system) and their integrations with internal tools.

5) Compliance, Security & Audit Readiness

  • Support internal/external audits (ITGC, CSV/GxP, data privacy); coordinate closely with QA.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, change control, validation (21 CFR Part 11 where applicable), access management, and secure software development practices.

6) Liaison with Scientific Development Teams

  • Partner with scientists and R&D stakeholders to provide hardware/software resources, develop new tools, automate workflows, and ensure robust security.
  • Facilitate instrument integrations, data acquisition pipelines, and lab digitization.

7) AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement

  • Leverage AI/ML to automate data capture, curation, reconciliation, and decision support across R&D workflows.
  • Promote responsible AI (model governance, bias checks, audit trails) and scalable MLOps.

8) Data Lake & Dashboards

  • Support Data Lake initiatives—define data contracts, lineage, security (RBAC/ABAC), PII/PHI safeguards.
  • Deliver business dashboards for internal and client views; enforce data quality (DQ rules, profiling) and cataloging.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Computer Science/IT or related; MBA preferred.
  • Experience: 10–15 years in IT for R&D/Pharma/Biotech/Chemical industries, with 5+ years in product/program leadership.
  • Domain Expertise: ELN (Chemistry/Biology), LIMS, compound registration/inventory, instrument integration, CSV/GxP.
  • Tech Skills:
    • Integrations/APIs (REST, event-driven, ETL/ELT), microservices, message queues
    • Data platforms (Data Lake/warehouse, metadata/cataloging)
    • AI/ML basics, RPA/low-code platforms, workflow tools
    • Cloud (Azure/AWS), DevOps, CI/CD, IaC
    • Security (IAM, encryption, audit logging), data governance
  • Tools (Preferred): Dotmatics ELN, MOSAIC, Scigilian LIMS, Azure Data Lake/Databricks/Power BI, ServiceNow/Jira/Confluence, GitHub/Azure DevOps.
