Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Analytical Chemistry Head to lead our analytical chemistry team. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in analytical chemistry, strong leadership abilities, and a strategic mindset. As the Analytical Chemistry Head, you will oversee the development and implementation of analytical methods, optimize the turn-around time of analyses, optimize resource & instrument utilization, manage budgets and operating plans, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Group Leaders, analytical chemists and laboratory technicians for both the Bangalore and Hyderabad locations.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, automation, and adherence to safety protocols within the team.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and implement analytical strategies aligned with the company’s research and development goals.
    • Collaborate with senior management to identify key areas where analytical chemistry can drive value.
  • Method Development and Validation:
    • Oversee the development, validation, and optimization of analytical methods for the analysis of intermediates, and finished products.
    • Ensure methods are robust, reproducible, and compliant.
    • Optimize analyses turnaround time
  • Quality Control and Assurance:
    • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of analytical results.
    • Work closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including technical, client, and quality assurance as needed.
    • Present findings, methodologies, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Technology and Tools:
    • Stay current with advancements in analytical techniques, automation and instrumentation.
    • Ensure the effective use of analytical equipment and software, and manage the maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related field. A Master’s degree with extensive experience may be considered.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in heading analytical chemistry within the CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotech industry.
    • Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role within an analytical chemistry team.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Extensive knowledge of analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS, NMR, and spectroscopy.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex analytical issues.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive change and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
