Role Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry with a strong focus on synthetic chemistry, Process R&D, or related areas
Experience:
At least 15 years of experience in the CRO industry, with a strong track record in the areas of FFS business, Synthetic chemistry FTEs, and Process R&D.
This role will be reporting to the Head of FFS Division in the Discovery Chemistry and will be responsible for supporting the head in managing the Fee-for-Service (FFS) business unit within the organization.
The candidate must be capable:
Lead the end-to-end process for preparing quotes and proposals, ensuring alignment with client needs and organizational goals.
Define and implement standardized templates and procedures for efficiency and consistency.
Customization and Competitiveness:
-Tailor quotes and proposals to address specific client needs while showcasing the CRO’s unique value proposition.
-Ensure proposals are competitive in pricing while safeguarding profitability and quality commitments.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate challenges and find creative solutions.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality systems in the CRO industry.
Cost Estimation:
Partner with finance and procurement teams to calculate accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and overhead.
Develop scalable pricing models that accommodate both small-scale and large-scale projects.
Quality and Compliance in Proposals
Detail-Oriented Documentation:
Ensure all quotes and proposals are detailed, accurate, and compliant with industry regulations and standards.
Include clear milestones, deliverables, timelines, and payment terms.
Risk Assessment:
Identify potential risks during the proposal stage and incorporate mitigation strategies into the plan.
Address uncertainties transparently to build client trust.
Legal and Confidentiality Assurance:
Collaborate with legal teams to include appropriate clauses for confidentiality, intellectual property, and liabilities.
Data-Driven Decisions:
Use historical data and market insights to refine pricing strategies and improve win rates.
Analyze trends in client preferences to preemptively address them in proposals.
Continuous Improvement:
Regularly review and refine the proposal process based on feedback from clients and internal teams.
Benchmark against industry standards to ensure competitiveness.
Metrics and Reporting
Tracking Success Rates:
Monitor and analyze proposal acceptance rates, identifying areas for improvement.
Provide regular updates to senior leadership on quote volumes, turnaround times, and revenue generated from FFS proposals.
Turnaround Time Management:
Establish and enforce timelines for proposal delivery to enhance client satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Performance Analysis:
Conduct post-project reviews to compare actual outcomes against proposed metrics, refining the proposal process as needed.
