Job Title: EHSS Specialist

- Ensuring safety of self, teams and lab/plant by adhering to safety protocols and following environment, health, safety and sustainability (EHSS) requirements at all times in the workplace.
- Ensure all assigned mandatory trainings related to data integrity, health, and safety measures are completed on time by all members of the team including self
- Compliance to Syngene’ s quality standards at all times
- Hold self and their teams accountable for the achievement of safety goals
- Govern and Review safety metrics from time to time
Core Purpose of the Role:
- Work closely with EHSS senior leadership and OU senior leadership to cultivate Syngene Safety culture.
- Serve as subject matter expert for clients, regulators and Syngene staff working on projects or during designing proposal responses.
- To support for the preparation of safety budget requirements like Capex/Opex
- Establish, implement and enforce safe work practices throughout the company
- Conduct safety audits and ensure closure of corrective and preventive actions
- Prepare training modules and conduct trainings for all employees
- To support incident investigation and provide safety data for MERM every month
- To ensure regulatory compliance with respect to environment, health and safety
- To check and evaluate the effectiveness of occupational health and safety systems
- Actively participate in activities that spread awareness on safety
- To coordinate with external trainer/safety consultants and conduct EHSS Trainings
- To monitor compliance to the Work Permit System
- To conduct Emergency Preparedness and Response Mock Drills
- To monitor pest control activities\
- Adopt best practices to reduce the generation of Hazardous wastes.
- Minimization of Solid waste generation and to ensure proper disposal.
- To support for the preparation and submission of all the legal forms related to EHSS within the stipulated time to the respective authorities
- To submit all the legal forms and reports related to TSPCB/CPCB/MoEF with stipulated time.

Specific requirements for this role
- Well versed with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and MS Projects
- Good command in English both oral and written and customer service skills
- Have knowledge on Discovery project lifecycle
- Good time-management skills
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Possess the knowledge and exposure to environment, health, and safety (EHS) practices
Experience
6+ years of total experience in Biotechnology, Pharma (R&D, API's and Formulations), Chemical & fertilizers, Pharmaceutical, CRO, CDMO, Paint & adhesives Industries
Skills and Capabilities
- Ability to multi-task and independently handle cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders
- Experience in leading projects and managing client relationships
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to work with cross functional departments, manage client relationships.

Education
M.Sc Chemistry/Graduate Engineer from recognized University preferably Chemical. M.Tech., candidates are Preferred. Diploma in Industrial safety from State Board is mandatory.
