Core Purpose of the Role:

 


The candidate will support safety assessment vivarium program, including vivarium operations, provision of veterinary medical care and management of animal care staff. The candidate will also provide support to ethical animal care and use by promoting 3Rs including the efforts to maintain AAALAC standards in vivarium.
The incumbent will help us supervise the day-to-day operational and administrative activities and ensuring that all processes are followed / executed as per the timelines.

 

Role Accountabilities:

 

  • Clinical and health monitoring of laboratory animals and maintain the standards in vivarium
  • Ensure that practices and procedures are aligned with Animal Welfare Regulations and AAALAC
  • Effective management with cross functional team members of discovery and regulatory environment.
  • Ensuring the regulatory compliance such as CPCSEA, GLP at all times in the facility.
  • Co-coordinating animal imports and quarantine procedures with stakeholders.
  • Supervision and training of team members including of laboratory animal care technicians
  • Participate in design / review of research protocols and involvement in studies.
  • Ensure appropriate resources are available to conduct day-to-day operations.
  • Support continuous improvement process in the vivarium
  • Biosecurity and maintenance of SPF animals including sentinel program.
  • Supporting Attending Veterinarian (AV) and facility veterinarians on daily operations.
  • Responsible for capacity utilization, excellence in vivarium maintenance by increased efficiency
  • Motivation towards outreach efforts, publications and continuing educational programs.
