Core Purpose of the Role:
This role supports the Instrumentation and Automation function within Biologics Manufacturing and Process Development. It ensures GMP-compliant maintenance, real-time monitoring, and control of critical systems. The role demands hands-on expertise in instrumentation, automation platforms, and compliance documentation to ensure operational excellence and audit readiness.
Role Accountabilities
- Primary Responsibilities:
Adherence to safe practices and procedures for self and team
Exposure to bioreactor instrumentation, aseptic processing, and environmental monitoring systems
Execution of preventive maintenance of field instruments and control systems
Ensuring safety and compliance with EHS protocols and Syngene quality standards
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Specific Responsibilities:
Maintain facility and equipment in GMP-compliant state
Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, and validation of instrumentation
Interface with PLCs, SCADA, and DCS systems for real-time monitoring and control
Troubleshoot signal issues (4–20 mA, HART, Modbus) and coordinate with automation teams
Install, calibrate, and maintain sensors, transmitters, analyzers, and control instruments
Maintain SOPs, calibration logs, and change control documentation
Participate in deviation investigations, CAPA closure, and risk assessments
Execute breakdown activities as per shift schedules
Lead root cause analysis and reliability initiatives
Recommend upgrades or replacements based on lifecycle cost and performance metrics
Plan and execute maintenance and qualification activities
Ensure vendor compliance with internal safety standards during maintenance tasks
Identify and maintain critical spares inventory

Experience - Foundational
Hands-on experience in biopharma or pharmaceutical manufacturing
Proficiency in calibration tools, HART communicators, and CMMS platforms
Experience with cleanroom instrumentation, BMS, and utility systems (WFI, HVAC, steam)
Skills and Capabilities
Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of instrumentation systems in biopharma environments.
Hands-on experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, and VFD systems.
Proficiency in troubleshooting signal protocols (4–20 mA, HART, Modbus).
Skilled in calibration, installation, and maintenance of sensors and control instruments.
Familiarity with cleanroom instrumentation, BMS, and utility systems (WFI, HVAC, steam).
Ability to interpret and maintain SOPs, calibration logs, and change control documentation.
Experience in deviation investigations, CAPA closure, and risk assessments.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Collaborative team player with effective communication across cross-functional teams.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or related engineering discipline.
