Job Purpose

Responsible for achieving business objectives by ensuring the timely submission of cost sheets and quotes, and the supply of necessary input materials such as raw materials, consumables, reagents, animals, and stationeries for the Biologics Unit and other assigned business units.

Key Responsibilities:

1. The individual will develop and maintain market knowledge in one or more spend areas; identify and implement best business practices that deliver value.
2. Network internally with Biocon Group Partners, US & Chinese partners, lead local and global projects through the strategic sourcing process, which results in negotiations and contracting with selected suppliers. (Category: Biologics, CDMO business)
3. Procurement Operations
   1. Source & select competitive global vendors for raw materials; preparation of detailed comparison statement capturing last PO price, internal estimation, arriving at a negotiation strategy
   2. Engage in techno-commercial discussions with local and global vendors on cost, delivery, freight, and other terms
   3. Achieve excellence in delivery of materials / animals / services to all projects to meet customer expectations (PR-PO, QUOTIF, etc.)
   4. Handle SEZ/EOU documentation, co-ordinate with cross-functional teams for licensing requirements of restricted materials
4. The person in this role will identify, negotiate with, and manage suppliers who provide goods and services to meet Syngene CDMO/R&D requirements whilst following Preferred Supplier Strategies. These activities could include development of Requests for Information, Requests for Proposals as well as negotiation and contract execution.
5. Developing strategic sourcing initiatives, including spend analysis, category management, supply-demand market intelligence, negotiations, benchmarking, clean-sheet costing, and ensuring process compliance and high levels of customer satisfaction (as applicable).
6. Cost optimization on developing alternate and using effective negotiation on category wise and freezing contracts for pricing, discount, and rebate structure.
7. MIS Reporting - prepare, share findings and recommendations with management, clients, highlighting areas for improvement, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
8. Vendor Management - Establish and maintain productive relationships with vendors, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met, and resolving any issues or disputes that may arise. Monitor vendor performance and conduct regular performance reviews to drive continuous improvement and cost savings. The individual will be involved in relationship management with critical suppliers to assure the value targeted during negotiations is realized for the business.

Educational Qualification:

1. Bachelor's degree / BSc with relevant experience (preferably with Chemistry/Biology as one of the subjects)
2. PG Dip. MM or MBA is an added advantage

Technical/functional Skills:

1. Strategic & Tactical Sourcing
2. Logistics / SEZ / EOU compliance
3. Vendor evaluation and selection criteria, such as capacity, capabilities, and compliance.
4. Cold chain / temperature-controlled shipments
5. Good knowledge on eco-system / Pharmaceuticals / CRO / CDMO

Experience:

1. Should have experience in strategic sourcing with a minimum of 4-8 years in pharmaceuticals / life sciences
2. Vendor development, negotiation, and annual rate contract.
3. Identification of supply risks, mitigation plan (proactively execution of the plan)
4. Collaboration, cost optimization, and value creation.
5. Proven skills in negotiation and understanding of commercial law.
6. Market intelligence, benchmarking knowledge, and awareness of best practices.
7. MIS reporting - conversant in generating SAP reports, collating data for analysis.
8. Act as the go-to person for all material & service needs of projects, interfacing b/w vendors and users to obtain and finalize techno-commercial offers.
9. Support strategic initiatives such as – working capital management & digital initiatives like e-procurement, Automations, B2B Integration, etc.
