JOB PURPOSE :
•Accountable for the performance of a group of PRD scientists and project leads and the collaborations with leading global companies.
• Ensure the performance of a team and enable the scale up activities safe and as per delivery timeline.
• Mentoring and team development
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead and mentor a team of 15 -20 scientists including Ph. D level project leads. Report to Group leader/Senior Group leader in the Chemical Development to develop chemical processes and synthesize intermediates and APIs for clinical studies on laboratory, pilot and commercial plant scale.
•Ensuring the team of scientists follow / adhering the number of reactions per scientist in every week / month. Generating report and sharing to senior leaders periodically.
• Provide scientific and operational leadership, drive project progression, and manage resources and facilities by collaborating with CFTs (QA, QC, AD, Manufacturing teams etc.)
•Nurture creative and innovative solutions to technical problems backed by a sound understanding of fundamental scientific principles in the team.
• Develop chemical processes that are inherently safe and scalable.
•Set and maintain high safety standards in the work environment.
•Monitor progress in strategic initiatives such as automation in PRD and other best scientific practices.
• Ensure productivity and quality as per Syngene standards and customer requirement.
•Ensure the reaction per scientist achieved in the team as per Syngene requirement
• Accountable for achievement of QUOTIF without fail in every month
• Lead development programs with minimum guidance from customers.
• Track health of customer collaboration and make course correction as appropriate.
• Collaborate with EHSS and other stakeholders to ensure fulfilment of CD safety objectives for the given financial year.
• Participate and lead strategic initiatives as appropriate in Chemical Development.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from premier institutes in India or abroad or M.Sc. Organic chemistry with 10-15 years of industrial experience in the fields of custom synthesis, Intermediates and API Process R&D, preferably with global exposure.
TECHNICAL /FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:
- Fundamental synthetic organic chemistry knowledge with an ability to propose synthetic routes rapidly that is safe and scalable.
- Fundamental process research knowledge including route scouting and evaluation.
- Excellent knowledge in scale up of molecules in pilot and commercial level
- Process optimization and development skills at par with customer/global standards. Periodical technical updates to client and regular interaction with clients (E-mails and conference calls)
- Basic knowledge in process engineering, particularly in unit operations.
