Core Purpose of the Role:
- Personnel handling this profile will be responsible for performing reactions as per the requirement of the project. They are also responsible for documenting the observations in relevant notebooks. They are to follow instructions from the supervisor and work in a group (or individually) to accomplish the tasks in a timely and efficient manner
Role Accountabilities:
- Independently handling automated oligo synthesizer (K&A-H16/Mermade-192/ ÄKTA oligosynth)
- Synthesis of DNA, RNA, ASOs, and modified oligonucleotides, conjugation using different reactions (amide, click, S-S, etc)
- Method development for the purification (HPLC, IEX, SEC, PAGE) and characterization of the chemically modified and conjugated oligonucleotides by various analytical techniques (LCMS, MALDI, HRMS, etc.) and data interpretation
- Hands-on experience in handling purification instruments HPLC, AKTA-Pure, etc
- Excellent critical thinking, scientific skills, exposure to oligonucleotide discovery processes and current research trends
- Team player, with experience in planning and conducting scientific experiments, focusing on deliverables of the project right from initiation to end
- Ensure that the samples generated during synthesis are given for analysis and record subsequent results obtained and update the supervisor / group leader on the progress of synthesis and ensure samples are packed appropriately for shipment
- Record the observations of experiment/reaction, results, utilization of resources and other activities related to the reaction in the laboratory or electronic lab notebook (ELN) following guidelines and in timely manner and ensure that the same is handled safely and confidentially.
- Ensure that the instrument / equipment is calibrated, undergone preventive maintenance, and are kept clean before use and in case of any breakdown, report to maintenance immediately
- Ensure that they know the MSDS of the chemicals they are handling and aware of emergency response procedures in case of accidental spillage, leakage or fire and ensure proper waste segregation as per EHS norms
- Always follow EHS and quality system requirements in the workplace ensuring individual safety and lab safety
- Attend all mandatory trainings and update training records as and when trainings are completed
- Always ensure confidentiality
- Flexible to work in shift
Specific requirements for this role
- Should be familiar with oligo-synthesis (nmol to µmol to mmol scale) by using solid phase synthesis & purification (RP-HPLC, IEX, PAGE, etc)
- Familiar with operations of relevant apparatus - instrument / equipment.
Experience: 3-6years
Skills and Capabilities:
- Should have deeper knowledge with concepts of oligo synthesis and reaction mechanisms
- Candidate should be capable of solving synthetic problems independently
- Should be excellent in purification and analytical interpretation skills.
- Familiar with operations of relevant apparatus - instrument / equipment.
Education
- MSc (Chemistry / Biochemistry /Biotech) with 3 - 6 years of industrial experience
