Job Purpose:

The position holder is responsible for performing for specimen collection, handling, processing and testing of project samples.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to laboratory policies & procedures.
  • Follow the laboratory procedures for specimen collection, handling, processing and test analysis.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly maintenance activities as per operating procedures and manufacturers recommendations
  • Maintain inventory of reagents, calibrators, spares and other materials to for daily operations.
  • Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies
  • Record quality control, calibration and maintenance activities as per standard operating procedures.
  • Receive samples into the laboratory and perform checks on pre-analytical quality & perform testing.
  • To follow the laboratory established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory established acceptable levels of performance.
  •  To identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the Lab Director and Section Head.
  • Identify, document and initiate corrective and preventive actions for non-conformances and deviations.
  • Checking of report data and initializing them (Manually/Electronic) and maintaining records of patient results.
  • To perform allocated responsibilities as per the Project management plan.
  • To maintain records to demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
  • Inventory of materials and ordering of new testing supplies as per the requirement. 
  • Ensure appropriate filing of all data generated in the laboratory and archive the files as per the SOP
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures and perform decontamination as per standard operating procedures. Comply to EHS policies on safety
  • Raise PR for deviation/ change control in Track wise as & when required.
  • Prepare and/or review standard operating procedures in EDMS.

 

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field

 

 Technical/functional Skills:

  • Should have a strong background in hematology, biochemistry, immunoassay, clinical pathology, serology & flowcytometry with a good understanding as per regulatory guidance/ industry practices/internal Standard Operating Protocols.
  • Should have hands-on experience in hematology, biochemistry, immunoassay, serology & flowcytometry equipment’s and sample analysis. Knowledge of ELISA and flowcytometry assays are highly desirable.
  • Strong logic, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to spot even minor deviations that could impact results.
  • Meticulous record-keeping skills.
  • Expertise with laboratory information systems (LIS), Microsoft word & Excel usage.
  • Knowledge and experience with regulatory requirements e.g. ISO 15189: 2022, CAP, NABL.
  • Proficiency in software like Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), GraphPad, Adobe etc.

 

Experience:

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in Medical technologist role.

  • Excellent communication skills - written and oral in English
  • Ability to work independently as well as with team members
