Role Purpose

Lead the strategy, build-out, and operational excellence of Syngene’s enterprise Data Lake and Analytics platform on Microsoft Azure/ AWS.

Own end-to-end data engineering, advanced analytics, and AI/ML capabilities that power scientific workflows, R&D, manufacturing, quality, finance, and commercial analytics—delivering secure, governed, and high-impact insights at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategy & Architecture: Define multi-year data & AI strategy and target architecture covering ingestion, storage, governance, analytics, MLOps, and consumption.
• Data Engineering & Platform Build: Build a secure, scalable data lake with streaming and batch ingestion from lab systems, MES/SCADA, ERP, CRM, finance systems, and scientific instruments.
• Data Governance, Security & Compliance: Operationalize data governance, align with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, GDPR/DPDPB, and implement Responsible AI practices.
• AI/ML & Advanced Analytics: Stand up ML Ops, deliver high-value use cases across R&D, manufacturing, quality, and corporate functions.
• Stakeholder Management & Delivery: Embed Data Product mindset, establish agile delivery framework, and drive vendor/partner management.
• Team Leadership: Build and lead a multi-disciplinary team including Data Architects, Engineers, Scientists, and Governance Analysts.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or related field. PhD or MBA is a plus.
• Leads initiatives & designs frameworks in data engineering/analytics, with 7+ years on Azure/ AWS. Proven leadership building enterprise data platforms and AI/ML solutions end-to-end.
• Technical Skills: Azure/ AWS Data Stack (ADLS Gen2, Databricks, Synapse/Fabric, ADF, Azure/ AWS ML, Power BI, Purview), Data Engineering (Spark, Delta Lake, Python/Scala, SQL), ML/AI (Feature stores, MLflow, AutoML), Governance/Security (RBAC/ABAC, encryption).
• Soft Skills: Executive communication, stakeholder influence, product thinking, program management.

• Business Impact: Deliver ≥5 production AI/ML use cases generating ₹X crore quantified value; reduce manual reporting effort by ≥40%.
• Data Reliability & Governance: Critical dataset DQ score ≥98%; MTTR <2 hours; 100% lineage in Purview for gold datasets.
• Adoption & Experience: Monthly active users ≥1,000; NPS ≥+40 for data products.
• Engineering Efficiency & Cost: Pipeline failure rate <1%; cost-per-insight reduced by ≥20%.
• Risk & Compliance: Zero High/Critical audit findings; compliance with GxP and 21 CFR Part 11.

Skills Required

• Strong understanding of cloud-native data engineering principles and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep).
