Core Purpose of the Role:

As the Head of Security for all India locations you manage the strategic and operational initiatives in different sites of Syngene in Karnataka and Telangana. Incumbent will be responsible to ensure high standards of operational security / manned guarding, command center operations, investigations, reception, crisis management, emergency response and business continuity aspects through security partner agencies.

The Appointment will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring Central Site Management Protocol across all Sites and facilities to always ensure Visitor Friendly and Audit Readiness conditions.
The post will also entail checking and ensuring full integrity and compliance of All Admin and Site management protocols to enable optimized functioning and cost-effective operations.

Role Accountabilities

Incharge of all Syngene Sites in India (Bangalore/ Hyderabad/ Mangalore)

  1. Develop security procedures and guidelines for all locations and recommend security policies. Be up to date with knowledge of threat assessments to property, assets and personnel.

  2. Act as a subject matter expert on corporate security

  3. Develop and implement framework for security training, awareness and technical security systems on all sites.

  4. Explore network and professional partners to gather intelligence and issue timely advisories.

  5. Monitor travel security process

  6. Leverage technology to enable simplification of processes

  7. Develop best practices based on industry wide benchmarking

  8. Operate with credibility at senior levels of the organisation promoting corporate security, business continuity and investigation programs

  9. Be a positive change agent on all areas concerning corporate security and operational security and BCP

  10. Provide intellectual leadership and active support to the stakeholders to ensure that risks are made known to senior management, on time.

Besides above responsibilities, work closely with group companies (Biocon Limited and Biocon Biologics) and ensure asset protection is delivered smoothly in cohabited locations. At SEZ locations of Biocon, engage proactively with SEZ officers and liaison teams to ensure that business operations are carried out in an effective manner.

Be an individual performer with strong ability to work as a team and the main focal point to the contracted security service providers.

Site Management

  1. To develop protocols, procedures, and guidelines for Site Management.

  2. Deploy protocols at all locations and ensure adherence to the protocol.

  3. Manage and guide the engineering team to design, develop and execute engineering solutions as per Site Management protocols.

  4. Manage engineering projects undertaken by the site management team.

  5. Report on engineering activities on a regular basis to the senior management team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the relevant key performance indicators.

  6. Ensure that environmental, Health & safety, engineering and quality standards are adhered to.

  7. Prepare annual engineering budget and forecasts and all capital expenditure proposals related to Site Management.

  8. Work closely with Central engineering, Maintenance, administration and security teams to ensure Site maintenance is optimal at all times.

  9. Review opportunities to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

Internal Compliance

  1. Act as internal auditor for the administration & security teams

  2. Develop audit measures for all processes under administration.

  3. Conduct periodic audits and present outcome with recommendations, to the Site Management Head.

  4. Collaborate with Biocon Limited security teams to extract necessary information related to audit.

Accountabilities as a Syngene Leader

Specific requirements for this role

  1. Experience – Retired Capt/ Major / Lt Col with a minimum of 15-20 years of experience in the field of security. Out of this, at least 5-10 years of corporate experience is mandatory.

  2. Demonstrated Capability – The individual should have demonstrated managing Country level security independently. Should have experience in handling crisis situations, vendor/supplier related issues. Should have working knowledge in access control systems, CCTV surveillance, visitor management systems, travel and transport security. Should have abilities to conduct investigations related to asset protection and training to guarding personnel.

  3. Education – Graduation (regular/full time course) in any stream with 60% aggregate is mandatory. Additional professional certifications like CPP / PCI /CFE will have advantage. Ability to speak Kannada will be preferred.
