Job Description:
This is a senior position that is responsible for protecting and enhancing the company’s reputation externally. Focus is on contributing to attracting and retaining customers, positioning the company as an employer of choice, and building key relationships with media and agency partners. This includes managing various external communications activities related to company announcements, quarterly financial results, media interactions, contributing content to social media channels, event management, etc. The role requires creating the annual/ quarterly communications strategy/ plans, curating high-quality content, managing executive communications, crisis management and working with stakeholders across all Syngene sites in India and overseas.
The ability and willingness to be hands-on and work as an individual contributor, as well as a team player, is a must. This job is based at the Corporate HQ in Bengaluru and is a regular work from office role.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate reputation management and external communications: Devising the corporate reputation strategy, its implementation and measuring impact. This includes:
- Develop a comprehensive external communications strategy aimed at enabling the company’s business goals.
- Leading engagements with PR agencies and event agencies in India and overseas for global markets.
- Staying interconnected with business developments to create brand visibility through the relevant media avenues.
- Curating business and functional content to resonate with all stakeholders.
- Crisis preparedness and management.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to create corporate narratives around business and functional domains such as HR, CSR, ESG, etc.
- Contributing content to social media and internal communications channels such as newsletter and intranet
Financial and statutory communications: Being a listed entity, the company is governed by a set of norms to disclose quarterly earnings.
- This role will require partnering with the finance/ IR/ secretarial/ legal teams to craft and curate accurate and transparent communication for the financial analysts, investors, shareholders, and media.
- Manage on-ground logistics and media engagement for quarterly results announcement.
Collaboration with internal functions: Collaboration with functions such as marketing, HR, finance, quality, ESG, government affairs, etc., to curate content for advertorials, podcasts, website, social media, newsletters, internal reporting channels, industry events in India and across the world, etc.
Qualification and competencies
- ~15 years of experience in external communications, some of it preferably in the pharma industry.
- Experience of managing financial communications for a listed entity in India.
- Experience of managing PR agencies both in India and overseas.
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing). Excellent written communications skills.
- An excellent communicator who can successfully build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.
- A team player with strong project management skills.
- Experience in implementing campaigns across a range of traditional and on-line media.
- Degree in communications/ journalism/ literature.
