Job Purpose (1-2 Lines):

This position oversees one of the major technology platforms (pathology, digital pathology and IHC) and is into clinical biomarker assay development, validation and analysis. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Perform hydrogenation reactions and filtrations independently, adhering to approved procedures and guidance where required.
  • Prepare, clean, and ensure readiness of autoclaves and associated equipment for subsequent reactions.
  • Adhere to defined slot schedules and standard operating procedures within the hydrogenation laboratory.
  • Troubleshoot automation and equipment related issues to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.
  • Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate daily records of all reactions and laboratory activities.
  • Prepare and submit monthly operational and utilization reports to the reporting manager.

Inventory and Resource Management:

  • Monitor and maintain inventory of spare parts and critical consumables.
  • Coordinate ordering of hydrogen and other gas cylinders and ensure adequate stock levels to prevent operational disruptions.
  • Coordination and Stakeholder Management
  • Coordinate closely with chemists, colleagues, and team members for smooth execution of laboratory activities.
  • Liaise with engineering, maintenance teams, and external vendors for prompt resolution of hydrogenation lab–related issues.

EHS and Compliance:

  • Follow all EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) guidelines, SOPs, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and usage of pyrophoric catalysts and hazardous materials.
  • Proactively identify potential risks, anticipate issues, and alert relevant stakeholders in advance.
  • Report near miss events and incidents immediately to the reporting manager and EHSS team.

 

Educational Qualification and Experience:

  • Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
  • Industrial experience is desirable.

 

Technical/functional Skills: (Maximum 4-6 Points)

  • Sound understanding of basic chemistry principles.
  • Strong hands on experience in bulk scale hydrogenation reactions.
  • Proven expertise in safe handling of pyrophoric catalysts.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory automation and equipment troubleshooting.

 

Behavioral Skills:

•      Experience in documentation and basic people coordination.

•      Strong team working and collaboration skills.

•      Willingness to consistently support chemists and laboratory operations.
