Job Title: EHSS Lead- Environment & Compliance

Job Location: Syngene International Limited, Bengaluru

  • Ensure all assigned mandatory trainings related to data integrity, health, and safety measures are completed on time by all members of the team including self
  • Compliance to Syngene’ s quality standards at all times
  • Hold self and their teams accountable for the achievement of safety goals
  • Govern and Review safety metrics from time to time

 

 

Core Purpose of the Role:

The EHS Environment and Compliance specialist provides corporate governance and ensure compliance to EHS legal requirements. This includes employee safety, site compliance, product stewardship and other compliance areas. Working with leadership across the operation sites ensure completed compliance with required statutes.

 

Role Accountabilities

Environment and Compliance Management,:

  • Ensure 100% compliance with legal requirements of all sites of Syngene
  • Ensure upto date legal register for all Syngene sites
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports, certifications, and documentation to authorities and third-party stakeholders.
  • Ensue robust control of data traceability on EHSS compliance matters
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on site compliances
  • Prepare internal and external communications on environmental sustainability initiatives and product stewardship achievements.
  • Ensure site compliance to all Environmental management requirements as per prevailing national rules and regulations
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Education:
  • Educate employees, stakeholders, and customers about sustainability and environmental responsibility.
  • Provide guidance and training to teams across the organization to ensure sustainability is integrated into decision-making processes.
  • Promote sustainable practices within the supply chain by collaborating with vendors and partners on environmentally-friendly sourcing and manufacturing processes.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify and evaluate emerging trends, technologies, and innovations in environmental sustainability and product stewardship.
  • Propose recommendations for continuous improvement of sustainability practices across product lines.
  • Foster a culture of sustainability within the organization, encouraging innovation and the adoption of best practices.

Product Stewardship Management:

  • Develop and implement product stewardship programs that align with corporate sustainability objectives.
  • Monitor and manage the environmental impact of products from design through end-of-life, ensuring responsible sourcing, manufacturing, use, and disposal.
  • Work with product development teams to incorporate sustainability into product design, focusing on energy efficiency, material reduction, recyclability, and waste minimization.
  • Conduct lifecycle assessments to identify environmental impacts and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at reducing the company's carbon footprint, energy usage, waste generation, and overall environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with other departments to set and meet company-wide sustainability goals.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree/Engineering in relevant fields (Master’s preferred).
  • More than 8+ years of experience in environmental management, sustainability and compliance management with a strong understanding of environmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Experience in managing product life cycles and developing strategies for reducing environmental impacts with Strong analytical skills with experience in conducting lifecycle assessments and sustainability reporting.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Passion for sustainability and a commitment to making a positive environmental impact.
