Job Purpose
The EHS & Sustainability specialist creates strategies, provides corporate governance and implements the company’s global environmental, health and safety program as well as the company’s sustainability program in order to ensure compliance and competitive positioning. This includes employee safety, site compliance, product stewardship and other compliance areas. Working with local leadership across the operation sites, develops and implements programs to maintain, improve and drive organizational sustainability and ESG initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop corporate Sustainability strategies, goals and a robust suite of ESG programme
- Advice Divisions and operating units regions and its leadership teams on ESG matters
- Plan and deliver programs to train managers and employees in sustainability practices and track improvements.
- To establish an effective waste reduction program across the organisation sites
- To ensure environmental compliances for organisation sites
- To generate a mechanism for environment performance review and establish active dashboard
- To strengthen environmental protection measures and drive the ESG program for the organisation.
- Map out Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions (Scope-1, 2 and 3), water consumption and waste footprint baseline (e.g. based on the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI) environmental survey)
- Drive materiality assessment and improvement plans
- Set site annual objectives for reduction in water and energy consumption as per SBTi (Science based targets initiative) .
- Drive environmental remediation plan and execution
- Advice and track to develop strategies for green supply chain management
- Engage external consultants, legal counsel and regulatory bodies to address site or corporate compliance issues and lead/direct resolution activities.
- Management of Sustainability audit program
- EHSS Liability reserves and conduct acquisition/divesture assessments
- Track EHSS regulation changes for continued compliance as necessary,
- Responsible for Corporate EHS sustainability initiatives
- Drive Sustainability of the organisation as per PSCI, BRSR assurance audit compliance.
- EHS data owner for all sustainability reporting such as CDP, Ecovadis, DJSI etc
- Track SBTi deliverables
Educational Qualification:
- Degree/ Master degree in Environmental Science/Engineering -Chemical Environmental technology
- Knowledge and experience of managing compliance to environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, etc). Understanding of Occupational laws (e.g., OSHA) and safety practices in order to minimize safety incidents
- Good understanding of ESG (Environment and Social governance, carbon footprints, SBTi-Science based targets initiative, organizational sustainability reporting in CDP, Ecovadis etc)
Technical/functional Skills: (Maximum 4-6 Points)
- Environment Management (ESG experience)
- Compliance (regulatory and internal)
- IT literate, with the ability to use the full Microsoft Office package
- Knowledge of current Health and Safety practice within Pharma sector
- Need strong analytical and detail orientation skill
- Good networking skill
- Leadership skills to lead materiality assessment reporting
