Core Purpose of the Role:
- To provide strategic and technical leadership across Process Development, Process Chemistry, Process Engineering, Process Safety, Flow Chemistry, and Kilolab operations. The role ensures development of safe, robust, and scalable API processes, driving innovation, operational excellence, and seamless tech transfer from lab to manufacturing.
Role Accountabilities
- Lead end‑to‑end API process development, scale‑up, and technology transfer.
- Oversee and mentor teams in Process Chemistry, Engineering, Flow Chemistry, and Kilolab.
- Ensure scientific rigor in route scouting, process optimization, and scale‑up studies.
- Direct process safety programs including reaction hazard analysis, risk assessments, and compliance.
- Implement modern technologies such as continuous/flow processing to enhance productivity and safety.
- Ensure alignment with regulatory, quality, safety, and GMP standards.
- Build technical capability, infrastructure, and long‑term functional strategy.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, QA, EHS, Supply Chain, BD, and client teams on project execution.
- Represent the organization in technical discussions with customers and regulatory bodies.

Specific requirements for this role
Experience
- Experience in API/CDMO/pharmaceutical process development.
- Significant experience leading multi-disciplinary scientific teams.
- Proven track record in route design, process optimization, scale‑up, and tech transfer.
- Hands-on experience with flow chemistry, modern process technologies, and kilo/pilot plant operations.
- Experience in managing process safety, reaction hazard evaluation, and compliance with global standards.

Education
- PhD in Organic Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is mandatory.
- Additional certifications in Process Safety, Flow Chemistry, or GMP (preferred).
Experience
- Leadership experience at a senior level in API development or CDMO environment.
- Proven success in delivering scalable and safe processes from lab to plant.
- Experience in managing teams spanning chemistry, engineering, and process safety.
Skills and Capabilities
- Deep technical expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, process engineering, and thermochemical understanding.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, regulatory expectations, and EHS frameworks.
- Capability to interpret calorimetry, scale‑up data, and engineering risk evaluations.
- Process safety leadership (HAZOP, PHA, risk assessment methodologies).
- Strategic planning, program management, and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to drive innovation—flow chemistry, automation, digital tools, etc.
- High level of scientific communication and documentation quality.
