Core Purpose of the Role:
The Director, Systems Modelling & Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) will lead Syngene's modelling and simulation capabilities across small molecules, biologics and advanced therapeutic modalities. The role will be responsible for developing and applying mechanistic, systems-level and quantitative modelling approaches that improve understanding of disease biology, therapeutic mechanisms, translational outcomes and clinical development decisions.
This leader will be responsible for an integrated modelling team spanning QSP, mechanistic systems biology, PK/PD, PBPK and AI-enabled modelling approaches to support both internal programmes and global client engagements. The position will play a critical role in advancing model-informed drug discovery and development while creating differentiated scientific capabilities for Syngene.
Role Accountabilities
- Develop long-term capability roadmaps spanning QSP, systems biology, mechanistic modelling, PBPK and translational modelling.
- Partner with Head, CDS to establish Syngene as a leading partner for model-informed drug discovery and development.
- Identify emerging technologies and opportunities in digital biology, virtual patients, AI-driven modelling and model-informed decision making.
- Lead development and application of systems biology frameworks for translational models, including mechanistic disease, (PB)PK/PD, exposure-response, trial simulation.
- Support target identification, target validation, mechanism-of-action and translational studies through systems-level modelling.
- Drive integration of AI, machine learning and mechanistic modelling approaches.
- Mentor scientists and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and scientific excellence.

- Ensure adherence to data governance, security, privacy and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a strong culture of responsible AI and ethical use of data.

Experience
- 15 years of relevant experience in either pharma or CRO/CDMO organizations.
- Demonstrated leadership of leadership in QSP or mechanistic modelling.
- Track record of supporting drug discovery and development decisions through quantitative modelling.
- Experience managing global stakeholders and client-facing engagements.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical R&D and scientific workflows
Education: Ph.D. in a related field (QSP, systems biology, applied mathematics, pharmaceutical sciences)
