Core Purpose of the Role:
- To perform protein expression and purification from various expression systems
Role Accountabilities:
- Execution of protein expression and purification projects
- Inventory management for the assigned projects
- Protein expression in bacterial & mammalian cells, and purification involving small & large scale batches (up to 20 L batch).
- Upstream and downstream process involving bacterial and mammalian systems
- Mammalian cell culture maintenance, transfection, expression optimization
- Cell culture harvest, filtration, and protein purification
- Purification of different types of tagged and non-tagged proteins, expertise in Affinity chromatography, ion-exchange chromatography, hydrophobic interaction chromatography, size-exclusion chromatography, analysis by SDS-PAGE & Western blots
- Protein refolding from Inclusion bodies and analysis of refolded protein
- The candidate should be able to purify protein in a multi-step purification within in speculated time limit
- The candidate should maintain experimental data in ELN contemporaneously
- Ability to work in a team is important and the candidate should demonstrate this objective

Education: MSc or M. Pharma or M. Tech
Experience: 2-4 years
Technical / Functional Skills:
- Experience in protein expression and purification
- Well versed with all the instruments required for upstream and downstream process
- Should be conversant with bacterial and mammalian systems for Gene to protein projects
- Execution of upstream and downstream process involving bacterial and mammalian systems
- Should be conversant with SDS-PAGE, western blots, chromatographic modes of purification using AKTA purification systems
Behavioral / Managerial skills:
- Demonstrated capabilities in leading a team and working in a matrix environment. Ability to rationally discuss data make data-driven decisions, and influence decisions to select optimal molecules for development. Ability to work in collaboration with a large inter-disciplinary team and assimilate data from various aspects. Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously requiring frequent communication, organizing/time management, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, analytical, and scientific project management skills
- Ability to work with senior management with professionalism and discretion
