Reports to: Team Leader/ Senior Team Leader/ Group Leader
Job Purpose: Plan and perform formulation research activities while guiding a team of scientists in the execution of pre-formulation and phase-appropriate formulation development to support pre-clinical and clinical studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead while performing the pre-formulation activities of new chemical entities (NCEs) to understand their physicochemical properties in the process of identifying potential drug candidates.
- Develop oral drug products including but not limited to oral solution, suspension, tablet and capsule dosage forms and conduct phase-appropriate stability studies as per the requirement.
- Train and orient the newly recruited and existing scientists in understanding and execution of assigned formulation development activities.
- Provide expertise and guide the team of scientists in the formulation development & feasibility studies to support pre-clinical pharmacokinetics (PK), pharmacology (PD) and toxicology (safety) studies.
- Exhibit good knowledge and understanding on solid state characterization of drug substances including basic analytical tools/ instruments, used in drug discovery and formulation development work.
- Record, summarize and present experimental data appropriately and draft relevant scientific/technical reports. Present the data at applicable meeting platforms shared with internal teams and external clients.
- Work with leadership/senior leadership in talent acquisition activities while participating in initial screening of candidates.
- Good working knowledge on MS office and basic scientific software/ tools, used in drug discovery and formulation development workspace.
- Work collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams and external clients/partners while exhibiting the core values of the department and company.
Educational Qualifications & Experience:
M. Pharm or M.S. in Pharmaceutics/ Pharmaceutical Technology/ Pharmaceutical chemistry/ Industrial Pharmacy with 10 – 14 years’ relevant industrial experience
Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics/ Pharmaceutical Technology/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry/ Industrial Pharmacy, fresher or 0 – 5 years’ relevant industrial experience
Physicochemical properties evaluation, Pre-formulation, Formulation Development, Formulation Stability Studies, Solid State Characterization, Drug Substance Functionality, Data Interpretation.
Functional/Behavioral Skills:

Interfaces & Dependencies:
Internal Candidate will be interacting with PK/ PD/ toxicology, medicinal chemistry and analytical R&D groups
External Candidate will have regular interactions with Syngene’ s clients working in discovery and development pharmaceutics.
