Core Purpose of the Role: The Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to the business in the areas of supply chain, vendor contracts, operations, infrastructure, employment matters and litigations and disputes.

 

Role Accountabilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate all vendor contracts on behalf of Syngene, including but not limited to those for supply, manufacturing, distribution, outsourcing, lease, technology, consulting and service agreements.
  • Advise and provide legal support to business teams on various contractual queries (such as billing, IP, liability positions, potential remedies etc.), conduct legal trainings if required, prepare risk assessments and mitigation strategies to help business teams understand risks for the organization and if there are ways to offset them.
  • Providing legal advice and guidance on employment and HR related matters. This may include researching on ad-hoc/novel queries and liaising with external law firms along with vetting warning letters/show-cause notices, conducting investigations etc.
  • Providing legal advice and guidance on all legal matters relating to operational aspects at Syngene such as buying land, leasing offices, procuring renewable energy amongst others.
  • Conduct research and provide analysis on ad-hoc/novel complex legal issues along with recommendations on legal strategies.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders across the business to ensure that all vendor engagement agreements are aligned with the company's business and strategic objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with external legal counsel, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operations.
  • Draft and develop standard legal templates, policies, playbooks and procedures.

Specific requirements for this role

 

  1. Experience – 3 to 8 years of relevant work experience
  2. Demonstrated Capability – Sound knowledge in contract drafting and negotiations and experience of having worked with/led teams. Experience of having worked with multiple stakeholders on complex matters. Strong contracting experience and knowledge is a necessity for this role. We are happy to train on other areas depending on capability.
  3. Education – LLB from a reputed institute. An LLM may offer added advantage however, not a necessity.
