Core Purpose of the Role:

  • Manage strategic sourcing activities related to IT and capital equipment (CAPEX) procurement.
  • Handle end-to-end procurement for IT infrastructure (networking, servers, software licenses), lab equipment, and machinery.
  • Drive efficiency through digital procurement initiatives and process automation.
  • Build long-term vendor relationships to ensure quality, timely delivery, compliance, and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead sourcing activities for IT, lab equipment, and CAPEX procurement including end-to-end RFQ to PO and contract finalization.
  • Ensure timely and compliant procurement of IT hardware, software subscriptions, servers, lab instruments, and related systems.
  • Manage PR to PO cycle and ensure defined TAT is met.
  • Achieve cost savings targets (e.g., 15% vs. budget).
  • Liaise with cross-functional stakeholders and project teams to gather requirements and support planning.
  • Work with internal teams and vendors for BOQ finalization, and technical/commercial evaluations.
  • Float RFQs using e-procurement tools, collect offers, and conduct technical/commercial evaluations.
  • Prepare comparison statements including historical prices, estimates, and negotiation strategies.
  • Negotiate with vendors on commercial terms, including cost, delivery, freight, and warranty.
  • Handle IT procurement involving servers, switches, routers, storage systems, and subscriptions (e.g., SaaS, cloud).
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policy and documentation.
  • Identify and onboard capable vendors for niche IT and lab equipment requirements.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships and supplier performance tracking.
  • Coordinate deliveries and installation activities with vendor and internal teams.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Meet procurement timelines and cost efficiency goals.
  • Ensure accuracy in technical specifications and compliance in documentation.
  • Maintain SAP procurement records and ensure alignment with audit standards.
  • Act as the point of contact between sourcing, IT, engineering, and lab teams.
  • Support digital initiatives such as e-procurement tools and automation.

Specific Requirements for the Role:

  1. Experience:
    • 8–12 years in IT or CAPEX procurement within pharma, R&D, or manufacturing sectors.
    • Experience in sourcing IT systems, lab infrastructure, and high-value capital equipment.
  2. Demonstrated Capability:
    • Proven track record of handling complex IT and Capex Purchases/contracts.
    • Knowledge of contracts and compliance standards.
  3. Education:
    • B.E. in IT, Mechanical, or related field.
