Core Purpose of the Role:
Role Accountabilities
1. Coordination of Export/Import Activities:
- Facilitate the export/import process, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations in the USA with the relevant knowledge of the sector.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, airlines, FF, suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors to ensure timely shipment of goods.
- Arrange for transportation, documentation, and customs clearance.
2. Logistics Planning and Optimization:
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize efficiency and minimize costs.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders to plan and schedule shipments effectively.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure adequate stock levels.
3. Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare and review shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including export controls, trade sanctions and various Export promotion bodies
- Stay updated on changes in import/export laws and regulations.
4. Freight Management:
- Negotiate contracts with freight forwarders, carriers, and shipping lines to secure competitive rates.
- Track shipments and resolve any issues or delays that arise during transit.
- Optimize freight routes and modes of transportation to minimize costs and transit times.
5. Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate them.
- Manage insurance coverage for shipments and ensure compliance with insurance requirements.
- Monitor geopolitical events and market trends that may impact international trade.
6. Communication and Relationship Management:
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to coordinate logistics activities.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customs officials and transportation providers.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues related to shipments or deliveries.
7. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics operations, such as on-time delivery and transportation costs.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements.
- Prepare regular reports for management detailing logistics performance and achievements.
8. Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost savings within the logistics function.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and best practices.
9. Inventory Management.
- Coordinate and supervise the receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock audits.
- Ensure timely and accurate order picking, packing and issue to manufacture.
- Monitor warehouse operations to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
- Implement and maintain warehouse safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Liaise with logistics & procurement to ensure seamless goods receipt and issuance.
- Handle documentation related to receipts and returns.
- Resolve any issues related to inventory discrepancies, damages, or delays.
- Manage warehouse staff schedules and oversee daily activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in warehouse processes and workflows.
- Prepare reports on warehouse performance and inventory status.
- Stay informed about advancements in logistics technology and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Specific requirements for this role
- Experience: 10 to 12 years
- Demonstrated Capability:
- Education: Bachelors of Degree in Commerce/Science Graduate, Business Management in Supply chain or post-graduation in Import/export.
- Previous experience in export/import logistics, preferably in a managerial role.
- Working knowledge of SAP-SD module
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software and tools for tracking shipments and managing inventory.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Leadership abilities and the capacity to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office (excel & Power point) Strong knowledge of international trade regulations and customs procedures
